Steven Wyner became interested in special education
law when the public school could not teach his son, Jonathan,
how to read. He made up his mind to exercise Jonathan's
rights.
Marcy Tiffany became involved in special
education law because the school district was failing to meet
the needs of her gifted, but learning disabled, child.
Two of our
paralegal/advocates, Dona Wright and Jen Ralph, have
children who have been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder.
We know what it a struggle it is to obtain appropriate services
for our children. We have shared the anguish of parents who watch their children
combat enormous obstacles to obtain an appropriate education. We understood the frustration of dealing with an
unresponsive public school bureaucracy.
The fact is, public schools take lawyers more
seriously than parents. For this reason, Steven and Marcy
redirected their skills as lawyers toward helping children with
special education needs. With the expertise and the support of
our staff, we have helped many families identify and obtain the
services that their children require. We believe our personal
experiences give us a unique perspective on the practice of
special education law.
